Our 2023 Campaign - Houses at Parliament was a huge success
The Southern Homelessness Services Network (SHSN), as part of the Victorian Homelessness Network (VHN), presented the Houses at Parliament campaign for Homelessness Week 2023 - 7-13 August.
The Victorian Homelessness Network event at Parliament House was a huge success. Staff from homelessness services across Victoria gathered on the steps of Parliament House with over 6,000 origami houses, to raise awareness of the need to build more social housing to end homelessness.
We were joined by members of Parliament who visited the display to learn more about homelessness in Victoria. We met with Housing Minister Colin Brooks and many other MPs from our region including David Southwick, Brad Rowswell, Ryan Batchelor, Katherine Copsey and Chris Crewther (see photos below).

And big thanks to all the makers of origami houses around our region. We made over 3,000 houses in the South alone, nearly 10% of the real unmet need for housing in our region (see the photos below).

The event received extensive media coverage. Click on the images below to watch the SBS coverage and the 9News coverage.
